Family research - Glenny/Glenney

Submitted by Wheezy on

Having been contacted by someone about Pop (Alexander Thomas Glenny 1882 - 1965) I gained momentum to again try to find the truth behind the rumour we were banished from Scotland to Ireland & changed the spelling of Glenney by dropping the second "e".

It would appear there is a story on the web about James Wilmott Glenny (born 1800)  being disinherited due to his marriage with a Mariah Campbell (rival scottish clans).  The post shows James & one of his brothers, William then moved to Ireland.

Are you related to these people, do you know anything about them, can you help?  I think that possibly James Wilmott is my G. G. Great Grandfather, but need to prove he had a son Thomas Glenny (born 1844) in Sligo Ireland.

Can you help - do these names & date mean anything to your family.

Can't wait to hear from possible relatives, wherever in the world.
