BBC's iPlayer (was IMP) released in one month !

Submitted by Falken on

According to the BBC web site the iPlayer 'watch again' service is out this time next month.

Still with the stupid restrictions (only a weeks worth, only able to keep them for week), and still only on Windows (and even then infested with restricting DRM junk even though it's distributed for free over the air anyway), though their director of future media and technology said 'I am fundamentally committed to universality, to getting the BBC iPlayer to everyone in the UK who pays their licence fee'.
That means Linux, and Mac and older Windows, and that means people who only have a freeview box or a new digital TV.
Until then, I guess it's Virgin Media's V+ service for stuff we know about in advance and BItTorrent for the rest.

It's unclear how a BBC-supported not-as-good-as-thepiratebay.org service will change this.
